Eleven couple apps, and the four different things they mean by the word free. What each free tier really gives you, what it costs you instead, and where your data goes.
Almost every couple app calls itself free, and the word covers four different things: free with advertising, free for a fortnight, free but capped, and free with a real tier you can live in. We read the store listings and the privacy policies of eleven of them on 10 September 2026. Cupla has the most generous free tier. Between is free and shows ads. Paired, Lovewick and Agapé give you one question or one card a day. Ours gives five discoveries a day and no advertising anywhere.

Read from each app’s own store listing and privacy policy on 10 September 2026, US App Store unless stated. “Solo” means the app is usable before your partner joins. The full comparison carries the prices and the links.
Five discoveries a day — five real places or events, dealt and decided on. Ten photos, eight plans, five dates, two goals and two time capsules for the two of you, and a slightly smaller purse for what you keep to yourself. The question of the day, the map, the calendar, the garden, the games and the memories are not behind anything: no feature is closed to the free tier, only quantities.
And there is no advertising, no data broker and no tracker in the app, free tier included. It runs on servers in Frankfurt. A share, paid per person, lifts your own limits; two shares lift the couple’s. Stopping a subscription never deletes anything.
Cupla has the widest free tier of the eleven. Between is free but shows advertising. Love Nudge is free without ads, though its policy allows advertising uses. Paired, Lovewick and Agapé give you one question or card a day, which is a taste rather than a tier. Ours gives five discoveries a day and caps quantities, with no advertising anywhere.
That depends on one paragraph in its privacy policy. Look for three words: advertising, partners, region. A free tier paid for by advertising means an ad network reads how you use the app — and in a couple app, how you use it is the private part. Two of the eleven state European servers.
In most of them, no: Paired, Cupla, Amorno, OurCouple and Couply say one subscription covers the couple. Ours is paid per person, and two shares lift the shared limits for both — so one of you can cover the other, and a share survives a parting because it follows the person.
Real outings around you, memories on a map, one question a day. Free to start, hosted in Europe, no ads.
